Racism, Goody? Make that cannibalism…
Alright. I used to like her a bit. She was alright in the Big Brother 3 series where she actually belonged; she seemed like a harmless enough girl with no brains and no agenda. I have even defended the troll against the beautiful Boofter before. Yet I had my head in shame.
I must admit to have avoided Celebrity Big Brother. I tend to watch the initial episode where they enter the house and just say ‘meh’. This year, the publicity has been such that one has grasped the concept without seeing it. Jade Goody has ripped any sympathy she drew before by becoming, or being, an egomaniacal t*at whose only concern was self-promotion (on whatever level).
That someone who was bullied becomes a bully does not make a justifiable end. Goody has left me down, the nation down, and most of all, the nation down (purely for Jenkins benefit).
The stuff she has said to the f*cking fabulously gorgeous Asian hottie that is Shilpa Shetty is beyond provincial. Shilpa, from what I have seen, has handled herself with grace and dignity.
The nastiest thing I can say to Jade is that you’re done now. You’ll no longer have even the sympathy you had before — career over.
Ciao!

My future.
So, what should I do when (if) I graduate this year? Do I go back to Barnstaple and hope for the best, or do I stay in Bristol and try and get a job here.
One thing I was thinking, as I discussed with Zoe (my fabulous manager), and some other folks, was the possibility that I work full-time at the Sandringham for a bit, while casually looking for a full-time job in something related to my degree. I could then support myself (ie. I would not need M & D financially, as I do now), I could stay in a city which I am yet to properly explore (thanks for pointing that out, Rusty!), and all the silly reasons, too.
I love working at the Sandy and I love the friends I have made there. I really only have three good friends at uni thus far. The Wife included.
I just don’t know what I will do after that? More uni? Computers? Politics? Journalism? Law? I am so confused!
Jess, what do you think I should do? (Other readers welcome to input advice!)

Survivor: The Cook Islands
I really enjoyed watching CBS‘ hit Survivor: The Cook Islands on YouTube recently (thanks to TheRoundPeg!). The series was highly controversial (or at least was intended to be highly controversial) as in the first few weeks they seperated the tribes according to their ethnicity. It didn’t really work out that way for long, though, and what seemed like a bizarre and idiotic publicity stunt at first then gained perhaps a slight amount of credibility by virtue of there being less white-Americans than usual. Don’t get me wrong, there a loads of lovely white-Americans, but those which are lovely and appear on Survivor tend to be few and far between. History bares this out.
This is presumably pure coincidence. Perhaps they picked idiots to represent the white-Americans on purpose. I’m sure it’s total chance that the show miraculously goes from having almost no black, hispanic or Asian representitives to suddenly having 15 (with 5 white-American contestents) in the Cook Islands season. It was all a very cynical attempt to get the public off dear Mark Burnett and co’s backs for their collective neglectfulness of minorities in prior seasons.
Ultimately, though, it didn’t really matter. It worked out well, and the best team won, and it was very entertaining to watch.

A rare update.
OK, so I have decided to post something on my blog because I have had a few too many half-shandys (or bottles of wine, however you wanna phrase it). I am currently Googling a lot of people, particularly those related to the recent Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother (I watched the former obsessively, while the latter didn’t keep my interest). Apparently Kemal and Kinga from Big Brother 6 are now an item. Pur-f*cking-lease. There’s nothing less flattering than blatent hypocracy. I am not even sure which of the bizarre pairing is worse — Kemal for being so overtly tedious and attention-seeking (let’s face it, it didn’t really work anyway), or Kinga (it’s not like she didn’t watch Big Brother 6.
Probably just cynicism — ya, k.
Other Big Brother stuff I have seen: Mary the ‘Witch’ is apparently homeless, though this claim is unsubstantiated. I thought she seemed rather bourgeois (if Irish), personally?
Lesley is also apparently desperately craving attention. Bless her, she did well getting all that hatred with so little substance.
Happily it appears Sam is off the rails. As if she was ever going to get any positive media response with her personality. She wasn’t even cuttingly bitchy, just a tedious fuckwit… And no, ‘Nuts’ magazine does not constitute a positive media response…
So, anyway, I am looking forward to Big Brother 7, which is apparently starting on the last weekend of May. Apparently some twins, a Tourettsian contestant, and a wheelchair-bound contestant are involved.
Glorious.
